Details of Experience:
It was the morning of Sept. 10, 2019. Mrs. Glenda was relaxing in her home catching up with the morning news. She shared with us that she was in severe pain, stemming primarily from her right knee. She suffered from a tough fall several years ago where she refused treatment for about 5 years until the pain became unbearable for her. At approximately 12 noon on December 20th, she decided to finally call her son to take her to see Dr. Cornelius.

Her doctor ordered a CT Scan & an X-ray and discovered that she had actually torn her meniscus in her right knee. She required immediate surgery and skilled rehabilitation to relieve her pain and prevent further damage. As one who always looked forward to the holidays, especially Christmas, she wanted to hold off on the operation until after enjoying the holidays with her family.

Dr. Cornelius approved for Mrs. Glenda to hold off on surgery and supported her pain levels through injections that alleviated her consistent pain and supported her tolerance.

Dr. Cornelius and Mrs. Glenda scheduled the operation for January 14th. at Vanderbilt Wilson Medical Center. After only 3 hours, the surgery staff supported Mrs. Glenda with light therapy to ensure that her mobility was intact and to prevent blood clots. After her one-to-one sessions, she began to attend group therapy sessions for further support.

She was discharged home on January 15th. Everything was going well with her recovery until the morning of January 18th when she stood up to use her bedside commode and her hand slipped. She was unable to catch herself and it resulted in her falling. She was in quite a bit of pain.

At her next therapy appointment, she informed her therapist about her fall. Her therapist highly recommended that she go to a rehabilitation center for specialty care. She chose Quality Center for Rehabilitation and Healing, admitting on January 20th.

Mrs. Glenda couldn’t walk or bend her right knee more than 10%. She attended therapy twice a day, 7 days per week for 22 days! Her determination was unparalleled, sharing that her motivation to improve and “get better” was the driving force behind her success. She shared that therapy was amazing and it truly helped her get better; she was so glad that she made the decision to join us here at Quality Center for inpatient rehabilitation. She also offered that Randy Moss and Chandelle Becky, members of our team, were blessings to her healing process.

Mrs. Glenda can now bend her knee 100% and her mobility has greatly improved. She shared that post her operation she was in no pain and was amazed at the progress she has made since early December. She was discharged on Feb. 12, 2020 to her home with home health services set in place for additional support moving forward. We are proud of you, Mrs. Glenda!
